UAP sponsors Bamburi Rugby Super Series tournament
03/05/2012…… Leading insurer, UAP today boosted the 2012 edition of the Bamburi Rugby Super Series by injecting a Ksh 1.5 million sponsorship to the kitty for running the tournament.
As the official insurance sponsor of the tournament, UAP will provide personal accident insurance cover for all the players and officials throughout the tournament.
Speaking while presenting a sponsorship cheque to the Kenya Rugby Union, UAP Insurance General Manager, Operations, Michael Oduor said that the company was sponsoring the tournament for the fourth year running.
He added that UAP Insurance was keen to support the growth of rugby as a sport and in particular the development of the 15s side so that it would attain similar international fame as the 7s side.
“Participating in the contact sport, rugby players are exposed to injury that requires immediate and urgent treatment. This is why UAP Insurance is on hand to ensure that any player or official injured gets speedy access to excellent medical treatment,” he explained.
He added that the need for appropriate personal insurance for sportsmen and women as well as their officials had traditionally been overlooked. “There needs to be a concerted effort from the whole sports industry to bring insurance to the fore where it should be,” said Oduor.

The 2012 edition of the tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday May 5th at RFUEA grounds in Nairobi.
