Crop Insurance

  • A multi Peril Crop Insurance cover for all commercial field crops including wheat, maize, barley, rice, tea crop, coffee, sugar cane, tobacco, all horticultural crops, floriculture and tree crop.
  • In addition we give cover to farm assets and equipments including harvested crop, green house and irrigation facilities.

What is Covered

  • Crop loses as caused by hail storm, fire, drought, excessive rainfall, frost damage, flooding and lightening

Basis of Cover

  • Sum Insured for any crop is based on value of inputs or pre-agreed market value of harvested crop.

  • Insured farms have greater access to agriculture credit since a crop policy document is accepted by financing institutions as alternative form of security.
  • Insurance cushions farmers against losses by acting as a fall back in event of a bad crop season.

What is not Covered

  • All crop losses as a result of non insured perils
  • Deterioration of crop and produce quality due to interruption of work or any process accidents.

  • Errors in pesticide application and failure to adhere to recommendation on application procedures.
  • Theft, mysterious disappearances and unaccountable losses.

Premium Charged

  • Premium rate depends on crop type and number of insured perils. This rate ranges between 4.5% and 6.0% on Sum Insured.

What is Required

  • Completed application form and payment of premium.
  • Crop emergence/establishment report conducted by the insurer.

Basis of Settlement

  • Yield short fall and down grading. Payment of all claims is due at the end of a crop season, however in case of total loss necessitating replanting, payments are made to facilitate a replanting.

Livestock Insurance

Cover for individual livestock farmer

A Livestock mortality cover against losses due to accidental death, diseases of terminal nature, emergency slaughter on advice of a recognized veterinary surgeon and theft of livestock in raising units or paddocks.

What is not Covered

What is Required

  • A current veterinary and valuation report from a registered veterinary surgeon
  • Identification by ear tags, tattoos or any other practical mode of identification

Premium Charged

  • Premium rate depends on Livestock type and population. This rate ranges between 3.0% and 6.0% on Sum Insured . (Subject to minimum premium of Kshs. 12,500 per farmer)
  • Veterinary and valuation report acts as a basis of determining Sum Insured

Claim Settlement

  • In the event of loss notify UAP Insurance or Agents immediately. Disposal of carcass before a postmortem  extermination amounts to no loss.
  • In the event of theft, the insurance will require a period of 6 weeks to allow for recovery  before settlement of loss.

Office Compact Insurance

Office compact is your comprehensive insurance cover for commercial office premises and professional consulting rooms. It offers the widest coverage for your office contents, loss of money, loss of documents, employees and legal liability to the public. Office compact covers six sections:

Section A: Office contents

Insures against; fire, explosion, lightning, earthquake, riot, strike, malicious damage, storm, flood, burst pipe and impact by aircraft, road vehicles, horses or cattle and theft or attempted theft involving break-in.

This section also provides cover extensions for;

  • Tenants' liability for loss or damage to landlord's fixture and fittings up to 10% of the contents sum insured.
  • Temporary removal of contents, up to 15% of contents sum insured
  • Loss of rent if the premises are not let-able as a result of an insured peril, up to 10% of contents sum insured
  • Out of pocket expenses if the premises are not let-able as a result of an insured peril, up to 5% of the contents sum insured

Section B: All Risks

provides cover against loss of, or damage to, specified office machinery.

Section C: Legal Liability to the Public

Provides cover for all sums which the insured shall be legally liable to pay as damages for accidental bodily injury and/ or damage to property of third parties including law costs and expenses incurred with the written consent of the company.

Golfers Insurance

Covers golfing equipment against loss or damage, hole-in-one as well as public liability

What Is Covered

The insurance provides cover against the following contigencies happening on a golf course or club premises:-

Personal accident

  • Personal injury by accident resulting in Death or loss of two limbs or both eyes or one limb and eye Kshs 20,000/-
  • Loss of one limb or one eye Kshs 10,000/-
  • Temporary total disablement (limited to 26 weeks per week Kshs 100!-

These benefits apply only to persons under 65.

Liability to the public

  • Indemnity in respect of claims by the public (caddies or ball boys included) for personal injury and damage to property up to Kshs 500,000/- for anyone accident with law costs in addition.
  • Loss-of or damage to golfing equipment i.e. - clubs, bags and caddie cars up to Kshs 20,000/-

Fire theft or larceny

  • Loss or damage to personal effects (other than golfing equipment and valuable) single article limit Kshs. 500/- up to Kshs 10,000/-

Hole - in - one

This insurance provides financial benefits for death or bodily injuries caused by accident to the insured person. The insurance also provides some weekly compensation for loss of income to the accidentally incapacitated persons and also covers medical expenses arising out of the accident

What Is Covered

The insurance provides cover in the event that you sustain injury or die as a result of an accident. The insurance covers all sorts of accidents and is also a 24 hour cover.

Comprehensive Schools Insurance

Due to the similarity of the learning institutions, UAP insurance has been able to create a comprehensive insurances for learning institutions in available in packages that addresses the main risks that leaning institutions are exposed to, these insurance packages will provide compensation that covers property, third party liability and injuries to members of the school fraterni

The insurances can be described in terms of four main sections:

Compensation for Damage to Properties

Damages to property that arise from fires, burglaries and other named accidental damages will be compensated for up to the value insured. Properties insured could include:

  • Buildings
  • Contents in the buildings
  • School equipment such as computers or generators
  • Pedal cycles
  • Motor Vehicles
  • Damage to safes
  • Loss of money in transit or in the premises
  • Theft of money or other items by staff

Compensation as a Result of Liability to Third Parties

Learning institutions very often host members of the public in on the grounds, and the institution may be exposed to liabilities as a result of the visitor’s injuries or damage to property.  The insurance will compensate the institution against any third party liabilities arising including the costs of litigation.

Compensation as Result of Accidental Injuries to the School Fraternity

Members of the school fraternity may sustain accidental injuries while on duty or off duty.  This insurance will compensate for such injuries including the medical expenses up to the limits agreed on. The insurance will compensate such events as death, permanent injuries and medical expenses. Member of the school fraternity that may be insured include.

  • Teachers
  • Members of the Board

Once the Bodily Injuries Act is gazetted,  the insurance of workers injuries  while on duty  will be compulsory .

Home insurance is a comprehensive insurance package that ensures peace of mind in the comfort of your home. DEFINITIONS

  • Permanent total disablement shall mean absolute disablement from engaging in the student's ordinary occupation.
  • Cost of Artificial Appliances shall mean the cost of appliances given or prescribed and registered member of the medical profession.

Tuition fees- during incapacitation shall mean reimbursement of lost tuition fees paid to the school, if the student is injured and unable to attend school for a maximum of eight 8 weeks.
